Chievo held by Empoli

Manuel Pucciarelli scores as Empoli come from behind to grab a 1-1 draw against Serie A rivals Chievo.

Empoli have extended their unbeaten run in Serie A to three matches after coming from behind to earn a 1-1 draw with Chievo.

Alberto Paloschi fired over the bar and Isaac Cofie put an effort wide as the hosts started strongly.

Paloschi came even closer just before the half-hour mark, but Luigi Sepe kept out his header.

Following a goalless first half Chievo took the lead in the 50th minute when Paloschi slipped the ball through to Riccardo Meggiorini, who got in between two defenders to guide an effort into the corner.

The visitors weren't behind for long and drew level just before the hour mark when Manuel Pucciarelli fired home a volley from close range, after latching onto Massimo Maccarone's header.

Pucciarelli should have scored his second of the match five minutes later, but after being found in the six-yard box by Mario Rui, he put his effort over the bar.

Francesco Bardi and Maxi Lopez both had chances for Chievo late on, but in the end neither side could find a second goal as the points were shared.
