Willian to pen new Chelsea contract?

Chelsea are reportedly happy to hand a new two-year contract to midfielder Willian.

The Blues have recently stuck to a policy of only handing one-year deals to any player over 30 years of age, a stance which has previously hindered their efforts to agree fresh terms with Willian.

However, the Chelsea hierarchy made a move away from those self-imposed restrictions when providing David Luiz with a longer contract earlier this year.

According to The Times, the West Londoners are now prepared to give Willian a contract which will last until the end of the 2021-22 campaign.

As a result of just 12 months remaining on his existing deal, the playmaker had seemed an attractive option for a number of European football top clubs who were keen to take advantage of the 30-year-old potentially being available for a lower price.

Willian has contributed 52 goals from 292 appearances during his six years at Chelsea.
