Report: Frank Lampard to join Melbourne City

Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard will reportedly join the A-League's Melbourne City on loan once his move to New York City has been completed.

Frank Lampard will reportedly spend the start of next season with Melbourne City ahead of a proposed move to New York City FC in the United States.

The former Chelsea midfielder has been linked with a move to Manchester City's newly-formed Major League Soccer franchise, but they will not start competing until 2015.

According to The Mirror, the England international will have a spell with the A-League side, who are 80% owned by the Premier League champions and were previously known as Melbourne Heart.

The report claims that the deal has been agreed and that an announcement is due soon.
