Jose Mourinho: 'I'd prefer Fernando Torres to play for Inter Milan'

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho admits that he would rather have seen striker Fernando Torres join Inter Milan on loan instead of AC Milan.

Jose Mourinho has revealed that he would rather have sent Fernando Torres on loan to Inter Milan than AC Milan.

The Chelsea striker will spend the next two seasons on loan with the Rossoneri following the arrival of Diego Costa at Stamford Bridge this summer.

Mourinho, who won the Champions League during his time in charge of Inter, told reporters at a UEFA coaching seminar: "I'm an Interista and I would have preferred if he'd gone to Inter.

"However, I hope that he does equally well at Milan. What I can say about Fernando is that as a person and a professional, there is nothing to doubt about him.

"He's a fantastic boy and a great professional. However, he needed a change of scenery."

Torres has scored 20 goals in 110 Premier League appearances since joining Chelsea in 2011.
