Borussia Dortmund reportedly emerge as the latest club to identify Reims forward Hugo Ekitike as a potential summer transfer target.

Borussia Dortmund reportedly become the latest club to join the race to sign Reims forward Hugo Ekitike.

Newcastle United were heavily linked with the prospect during the January transfer window before Ekitike opted to remain in Ligue 1 for the remainder of the campaign.

However, providing that they avoid relegation from the Premier League, the Magpies are expected to return for the Frenchman in the summer, potentially having rivals in Chelsea, West Ham United and Paris Saint-Germain.

According to Bild, Dortmund are now also regarded as a realistic destination for the 19-year-old ahead of 2022-23.

The report claims that club officials are considering whether to sign Ekitike as the replacement for Erling Braut Haaland, who is expected to depart the Westfalenstadion.

Ekitike, contracted to Reims until 2024, has contributed nine goals and two assists from his 20 league appearances this season.
