Chelsea transfer plans 'delayed' after Christopher Nkunku Bayern Munich update emerges

Chelsea transfer plans for double signings 'delayed' after fresh Nkunku update

Christopher Nkunku's reported move to Bayern Munich has supposedly stalled, which could delay Chelsea's transfer plans for the rest of the window.

The German giants wanted to sign Nkunku during the January transfer window, but the move did not materialise back then.

Despite signing Luis Diaz from Liverpool, Bayern still need another quality winger following the departure of Kingsley Coman, and they have reignited their interest in the French attacker.

The Bundesliga champions recently held talks to sign the former RB Leipzig winger on loan, but Chelsea have made it clear that they will not entertain any offers apart from a permanent sale.

Deal for Nkunku stalls - problem for Chelsea?

According to a report from The Guardian, Bayern's move for Nkunku has stalled, and it is uncertain whether they would be prepared to pay enough to sign the 27-year-old winger.

Newcastle United and Inter Milan have been linked with a move for the Frenchman, who was left out of Chelsea's matchday squad for the opening game against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Nkunku has dropped down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge following the arrivals of Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Estevao and Jamie Gittens, and his situation could get worse if the Blues sign more players in their forward areas.

Had Chelsea reached an agreement with Bayern for the winger, it would have helped them to move quickly for their two top targets - RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons and Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho - but now, it has been delayed.

The Blues need to vacate space and free up wages to make new additions, but Nkunku's situation could seriously dampen their transfer plans.

Who else could leave Chelsea?

The London giants are reportedly willing to listen to offers for Nicolas Jackson, who has been linked with a move to Aston Villa. However, his asking price of £80m is proving to be a major obstacle.

Raheem Sterling, Axel Disasi, Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka and Renato Veiga are some of the other players who are expected to leave Stamford Bridge before the deadline day.

It will be interesting to see if Bayern come up with a concrete offer for Nkunku in the next few days, but they have other targets as well, such as Nick Woltemade.
