Chelsea reportedly consider offering goalkeeper Willy Caballero a new 12-month contract ahead of next season.

Chelsea are reportedly considering offering a new contract to goalkeeper Willy Caballero.

The 37-year-old has spent his time at Stamford Bridge as deputy to Thibaut Courtois and Kepa Arrizabalaga, with just 21 appearances coming since July 2017.

However, Caballero was recalled to the starting lineup earlier this week due to an incident in the EFL Cup final which saw Kepa refuse to be substituted.

According to The Telegraph, the Argentine's professionalism over the incident and since his arrival at the West Londoners could lead to a fresh deal being offered over the coming months.

The report suggests that the main stumbling block could be how Chelsea decide to progress with solving their issues with a lack of homegrown players.

A number of domestic-trained players could leave in the summer, and it would leave the Blues needing to find a way to satisfy the relevant criteria.
