Vialli unsure of Di Matteo appointment

Former Chelsea coach Gianluca Vialli has expressed his concern over the appointment of Roberto Di Matteo as manager until the end of the season.

Di Matteo, who was already part of the coaching staff at Stamford Bridge, was given the interim role after Andre Villas-Boas was sacked on Sunday following a string of poor results.

"Personally I don't like it at all when the manager gets sacked and his assistant stays in charge," Vialli tweeted. "I thought they were a partnership.

"Having said that, good luck to RDM! Hope he can steady the ship."

Di Matteo will take charge of the Blues for the first time on Tuesday when they travel to Birmingham City in their FA Cup fifth round replay.
