Burnley defender James Tarkowski has claimed that the team are better than the performance that they gave against Chelsea on Saturday.

Burnley defender James Tarkowski believes they are better than what was displayed against Chelsea.

The Clarets were defeated 4-0 against Thomas Tuchel's team following second-half goals from Reece James, Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic wrapping up the fixture.

This was the second defeat in a row for Burnley, following a loss against Leicester City in midweek, which has left the club 18th placed in the Premier League table.

"We are better than that and we know we are. If we could have kept up that first-half performance, we were right in the game and we missed a couple of big chances too," Tarkowski told the press.

"We have been better than that recently. First half we were really good and it is just a shame that in that 10 minutes it was over."

Burnley will be back in action on Saturday against Brentford in the Premier League.
