Chelsea midfielder Saul Niguez takes to social media to react to his 'unexpected' debut for the Blues against Aston Villa after a poor opening 45 minutes.

Chelsea midfielder Saul Niguez has admitted that his debut for the club against Aston Villa was 'unexpected' following a less-than-convincing display.

The Atletico Madrid loanee featured from the first whistle against Dean Smith's side but was only on the pitch for 45 minutes before being hooked at half time.

Saul's display was marred by several errors on and off the ball, and the Spaniard has taken to social media to react to his less-than-convincing debut for the club.

The 26-year-old wrote on Instagram: "Wasn't the expected debut. Really happy with my first game and victory with the team. Incredible to see Stamford Bridge full of Blues."

Chelsea eased to a 3-0 success on the day as Romelu Lukaku netted two goals either side of a Mateo Kovacic strike at Stamford Bridge, and their next fixture sees them face off against Zenit St Petersburg in Tuesday's Champions League clash.
