Ron Harris urges Chelsea fans to stand by Jose Mourinho

Ron Harris suggests that Jose Mourinho is the right man to get Chelsea's season back on track, claiming that you do not become a bad manager overnight.

Former Chelsea skipper Ron Harris has backed Jose Mourinho to turn around the club's form following their worst ever start to a Premier League season.

The Blues fell to a 2-1 reverse at Upton Park on Saturday afternoon in what was their fifth league defeat of the campaign to date.

Pressure is continuing to build on under-fire boss Mourinho, who was sent to the stands during his side's latest setback, but Chelsea legend Harris is confident that the Portuguese is the right man to get things back on track.

"They've had one or two important decisions go against them and it's only natural people get a bit irate," he told BBC Sport. "Jose has always been a winner and, if he sits down and thinks about it today, maybe he could have handled it in a different manner.

"He most probably regrets it. But let's be fair, if you look at his track record where ever he's been, you don't become a bad manager after 10 games.

"I do the hospitality at the club and I've not seen too many people at Chelsea moaning and groaning. Maybe they are disappointed with the results, but I'm sure Jose will turn that around."

Harris made 795 appearances for Chelsea during his 19-year stay at Stamford Bridge.
