Chelsea midfielder Jorginho suggests that Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne would be a deserving winner of the Ballon d'Or.

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has claimed that Kevin De Bruyne would be a deserving winner of the 2021 Ballon d'Or.

Having won the Champions League and Euro 2020 in a matter of months earlier this year, the Italian has been tipped as an outsider for the award.

However, Jorginho has backed Manchester City star De Bruyne to be in the running, praising the playmaker's consistency over recent seasons.

Speaking to ESPN, Jorginho said: "If I don't vote for me, who will? I want to have at least one vote! Just kidding.

"I believe I'd vote for Kevin De Bruyne for everything he's been doing and for the beautiful football he's been showing in recent years.

"For those who like football, it's great to see him play because he understands football, he is a player with above-average intelligence."

The winner of the award will be announced on November 29.
