Mark Hughes left in the dark over handshakes

QPR manager Mark Hughes reveals that he didn't know who would shake John Terry's hand after both Anton Ferdinand and Park Ji-Sung snubbed the Chelsea skipper.

Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Hughes has revealed that he didn't know who was going to shake hands with John Terry before their match this afternoon.

The match was the first time the two sides had met since Terry was cleared of racially abusing Anton Ferdinand and Ferdinand, as expected, refused to shake the Chelsea skipper's hand.

However, QPR captain Park Ji-Sung, a former teammate of Anton's brother Rio, also snubbed Terry in the pre-match lineup and again at the coin toss. Hughes had already said that he would let his players make their own minds up before the match, but later revealed that he didn't know who would do what.

"They had the discussion and I was made aware that some were prepared to shake the opposition's hand and some weren't," said Hughes.

"I didn't know which individuals and I wasn't going to push the point.

"It was a personal decision for each and every one of them."

The match finished 0-0 to end Chelsea's 100% start to the season.
