Petr Cech: 'We can achieve second place'

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech believes that Chelsea are capable of overtaking Manchester City in the race for second place in the Premier League.

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has insisted that his club have the ability to finish the season in positive fashion.

The Stamford Bridge outfit are currently in third place in the Premier League table, but Cech has called on his side to defeat Manchester City on Sunday and try to finish the season in the best possible way.

The 30-year-old told reporters: "Second place is more than possible for us. We need to have a good run of results.

"If we win those games, obviously we will have a chance of second. To win the league we are maybe too far away. It would need a meltdown from Manchester United but it depends on them.

"As long as we are in that third spot and still in the Champions League places for next season, we are still in the FA Cup and if we keep progressing in the Europa League, we can still end the season with some trophies under our belt."

Victory for Chelsea on Sunday would see them move to within one point of Manchester City.
