Gary Cahill: 'Sergio Aguero's tackle on David Luiz was crazy'

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill says that Sergio Aguero's challenge on David Luiz - which earned him a red card - was "crazy but "out of character".

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has said that Sergio Aguero's red-card challenge on David Luiz was a "crazy tackle".

During the final minutes of Chelsea's 3-1 win at the Etihad Stadium, the Manchester City forward lunged in on the Brazilian and was soon dismissed by the referee.

The incident sparked a mass brawl with Fernandinho also being sent off, but Cahill has put Aguero's attempt at a tackle down to frustration.

The 30-year-old told The Mirror: "Maybe it was a bit of frustration. It was unlike him, it was out of character for him. It looked a bad tackle, out of character, it is disappointing to see that.

"They'd had a battle, him and David, and sometimes a bit of frustration spills over. It was a crazy tackle, not like him."

Aguero is expected to be suspended for City's next four matches in the Premier League after already been banned for three games earlier in the season for an off-the-ball incident with Winston Reid against West Ham United.
