Tammy Abraham: 'I can still make England's World Cup squad'

Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham says that earning a place in England's World Cup squad can only help his chances of making a breakthrough at Stamford Bridge.

Forward Tammy Abraham has said that a strong end to the season could see him earn a place in England's World Cup squad.

The Chelsea youngster - currently on loan at Swansea City - featured against Germany and Brazil in November, but has since dropped down to the Under-21 squad.

However, Abraham feels that he can still make Gareth Southgate's group of 23 players for the trip to Russia, and admits that would only benefit his chances of breaking into Chelsea's first-team squad.

The 20-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "If I got into the World Cup squad, I would be knocking on the door at Chelsea.

"I have to finish strong, look to the World Cup squad this summer and then focus on Chelsea. My aim is to go back and do well with Chelsea.

"I like to believe Chelsea is where I will go through and do well. I have been there since I was six years old. My dream is to break into the first team."

Abraham has scored a total of seven goals in 32 appearances for Swansea in all competitions.
