Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge is reportedly receiving treatment for suspected viral meningitis.

It has been suggested that the 22-year-old may have to pull out of the Team GB side at the London Olympics due to the illness, although no official confirmation has been made.

The England forward is currently residing in St Mary's London hospital while the treatment is carried out.

Further details regarding his illness are expected to be revealed when Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo holds a press conference on Wednesday.

Sturridge joined Chelsea from Manchester City in 2009.
