Jose Mourinho: 'Diego Costa could be absent until May'

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho reveals that striker Diego Costa may not return from a hamstring injury until the start of May.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that striker Diego Costa could return to action for the final four matches of the Premier League season.

Costa suffered a hamstring injury in the 2-1 victory against Stoke City last weekend, and although there was suggestion that he could return within two weeks, Mourinho has insisted that he doesn't expect him back in action until May 3.

The 52-year-old told reporters: "I think we have eight matches to play. If he plays four, it is normal.

"If he plays three, he is a bit below what I am expecting. If he plays five, that is more than I am expecting. I am not concerned."

Costa has scored 19 goals in 24 Premier League appearances this season.
