Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Tottenham Hotspur

Chelsea injury, suspension list vs. Spurs

Chelsea play host to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Wednesday night having suffered an agonising penalty-shootout defeat to Manchester City in the EFL Cup final.

The Blues were able to keep out free-scoring City for 120 minutes, but it was Pep Guardiola's side who prevailed on spot kicks at Wembley Stadium.

However, Maurizio Sarri must deal with a short turnaround ahead of the game with Spurs, and the Italian may have to rotate a number of his players.

Here, Sports Mole looks at Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their encounter with Mauricio Pochettino's side.

CHELSEA'S INJURY LIST

Davide Zappacosta

Status: Doubtful Type of injury: Illness Possible return date: February 27

Davide Zappacosta was absent for last week's games due to illness, but the Italian could potentially return to the squad on Wednesday night.

Gary Cahill

Status: Doubtful Type of injury: Back Possible return date: February 27

Gary Cahill has not played a part in Sarri's plans since the start of 2019, and it remains unclear whether the centre-back is out of the squad due to a back injury or an exclusion from the squad.

Danny Drinkwater

Status: Out Type of injury: Achilles Possible return date: Unknown

Danny Drinkwater does not feature in Sarri's plans going forward, and it has also been suggested that the midfielder is carrying an issue with his Achilles.

Marco van Ginkel

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Dutch midfielder Marco van Ginkel has been sidelined with a serious knee injury throughout the season.

CHELSEA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Chelsea have no suspensions ahead of this game.
