Charlton Athletic promoted to the Championship

Charlton Athletic have been promoted to the Championship following today's 1-0 victory away at Carlisle United.

For promotion to be confirmed, the Addicks needed to take maximum points from Brunton Park and Sheffield Wednesday had to fail to win at Colchester United.

Charlton did their part thanks to a strike from Bradley Wright-Phillips, while Wednesday were held to a 1-1 draw in Essex.

It is the third time in Charlton's history that they have gained promotion at Carlisle's ground.
