UEFA have this afternoon confirmed that the San Siro will host the 2016 Champions League final, marking the fourth time Europe's top club competition has been decided in the home shared by AC Milan and Inter Milan.
Milan last featured as the Champions League final's host city in 2001, when Bayern Munich triumphed over Valencia on penalties.
The San Siro follows Berlin's Olympiastadion in putting on the showpiece fixture in the European football calendar, with Lisbon the host city for this season's final.
UEFA's decision to return to the Giuseppe Meazza is the second time Italy has been awarded a major European final in recent years, with the Juventus Arena in Turin the venue for this season's Europa League decider.
