Preview: Celtic vs. Aberdeen

Celtic vs. Aberdeen

This Sunday's result between Celtic and Aberdeen could prove decisive in the race for the Scottish Premiership title.

Ronny Deila's side could stretch their lead at the top of the table to six points, but the Dons have a huge incentive to snatch all three points as they will equal their rivals with a victory on away turf.

The home side look unbeatable in the league at the moment as they have not dropped a point in their last seven fixtures in the top flight, and they have conceded just one goal in the process.

A comprehensive 4-0 win over Hamilton Academical at the weekend firmed their place at the top, but Aberdeen have held their own this season having been unbeaten in their last 13 league fixtures.

Aberdeen were the last club out of the Old Firm to win the Scottish title back in 1895, and manager Derek McInnes will be trying to make history again with this team.

The Dons will face a Celtic side who have been dumped out of the Europa League following a 4-3 aggregate defeat to Inter Milan on Thursday.

The result could benefit Aberdeen as they try to strike while the Bhoys are down, but it could go the other way as Deila's men will want to respond immediately with a triumph.

In terms of this weekend's teams, Kris Commons could come back into the Celtic XI after starting on the bench for Thursday's game against Inter Milan.

Ash Taylor has been added to the Aberdeen squad, but they remain without Jonny Hayes, Nicky Low and Russell Anderson.
