Gary Mackay-Steven rejects talk of "crisis" at Celtic

Gary Mackay-Steven believes that Celtic have big enough characters in the dressing room to help them get their Scottish Premiership title charge firmly back on track.

Celtic midfielder Gary Mackay-Steven has suggested that any talk of a "crisis" at the club is well off the mark.

The Hoops saw their unbeaten start to the Scottish Premiership campaign come to an end last time out when losing 2-1 at Aberdeen.

Celtic's early Champions League exit is also fresh in the memory, but Mackay-Steven is confident that he and his teammates can "put things right" over the coming months.

"It's not a crisis in our eyes, to be honest," he is quoted as saying by Belfast Live. "It's early on in the season. We didn't play as well as we could against Aberdeen. We know they are a good team and they punished us.

"A lot of people will be thinking, 'Aberdeen will be riding high now'. We need to prove why we have been champions before and I think there are enough big characters in the dressing room to make sure that was just a one-off. I think we will put things right."

Celtic now turn attention to their Europa League campaign, which gets underway with a tough trip to Dutch giants Ajax on Thursday evening.
