Brown: 'Mackay-Steven will flourish at Celtic'

Scott Brown has revealed that he plans to hold talks with Gary Mackay-Steven before the winger makes a move to Celtic.

The 24-year-old has signed a pre-contract agreement with the Scottish champions ahead of next season, when he will join the club on a free.

Having seen Mackay-Steven make waves in the top tier this term, as well as breaking into the Scottish national side a little over 12 months ago, Brown is confident that his soon-to-be teammate has what it takes to be a success in his new surroundings.

"I'll speak to him before he turns up," he is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail. "I've met him a few times in Edinburgh because he stays there as well. He stays about five minutes up the road from me, so hopefully he can be my driver.

"Coming to a club as big as Celtic, it takes everyone six months to understand the fan-base. Even when it comes to going out to a restaurant in Glasgow, you find half the people love you and the other half hate you.

"It's a big thing for newcomers to come in and accept this Rangers and Celtic divide - but I'm sure he'll flourish."

It is believed that Celtic have the option to push through a move for the Dundee United midfielder this month if they pay out £200,000.
