Catania 2-0 Parma

Goals from Alejandro Gomez and Gonzalo Bergessio see Catania beat 10-man Parma 2-0 at home.

Catania have picked up their third home win in Serie A this season with a 2-0 victory over Parma.

The hosts went ahead after just two minutes when Alejandro Gomez shot home Pablo Barrientos's pass from close range.

Massimo Gobbi almost equalised for Parma in the 13th minute when he shot a Jonathan Biabiany cross towards the Catania goal, but failed to keep it on target.

Barrientos then had his header from the left side of the box saved by Antonio Mirante before Marco Parolo tried his luck for Parma from outside the box.

Biabiany came close to restoring parity for the visitors minutes into the second half with a header from an Amauri cross, but it went wide.

Things went from bad to worse for the visitors on 69 minutes when Yohan Benalouane was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Gonzalo Bergessio scored Catania's second goal of the afternoon 10 minutes from time when he turned in Mariano Izco's cross.
