Keith Curle 'guarantees' Carlisle United survival

Carlisle United boss Keith Curle insists that he will secure the club's Football League status come the end of the season.

Carlisle United boss Keith Curle has 'guaranteed' supporters that he will keep the club in the Football League this season.

The Cumbrians currently sit three points above the League Two relegation zone following Monday's 3-1 defeat to Accrington Stanley.

Despite fears that they could drop into the Conference Premier, Curle is adamant Carlisle will stay up.

"I will keep this club in the Football League, I can guarantee that," he told the club's official website. "I'm staking my reputation on it. Everything I do or say is done with the utmost honesty and this is a situation I'll face and we will pull through and be stronger for it.

"We're seeing a lack of personality and mental strength in the changing room and we're now asking them to show us what they're about. There's enough in there to keep us in the division this year and, once we've achieved that, the rebuilding can start. Right now it's about doing the job that's needed."

Carlisle are back in action on Friday when they entertain Portsmouth.
