Steve Evans backs Carlisle United for promotion bid next season

Rotherham United boss Steve Evans tips Graham Kavanagh's Carlisle United to be in the League One promotion mix next season.

Rotherham United boss Steve Evans has tipped Carlisle United to be in the League One promotion mix next season.

The Cumbrians are currently 15th in the table, 16 points below the final playoff place, but Evans believes that Graham Kavanagh's side will perform much better next term.

After watching Rotherham win 2-1 at Brunton Park on Saturday, he told reporters: "Kav has real tenacity and fighting spirit in that team and when he gets the chance to bring in his own players they will be a club to challenge next year."

Kavanagh has been in charge of Carlisle since replacing Greg Abbott in September.
