Cardiff City confirm appointment of Paul Trollope as head coach

Cardiff City confirm the appointment of Paul Trollope as the club's new head coach.

Cardiff City have confirmed the appointment of Paul Trollope as the club's new head coach.

The 43-year-old will replace Russell Slade, who has moved up to head of football following a 19-month spell in charge of the first team.

Trollope was part of Slade's coaching staff from March 2015, but will now lead the team into the new Championship season.

Cardiff owner Vincent Tan told the club's official website: "I am delighted for Paul on his new appointment. He is young, full of ideas, extremely hard working and this is an opportunity for him to establish his credentials further.

"I believe Paul will improve the team in several areas. In particular, I hope he will lead the team to play an attractive style of football that Cardiff City fans love.

"We hope that under Paul's leadership, Cardiff City will return to the Premier League. I'd like to thank him for what he's done for us so far whilst wishing him the best of luck for the future. He has our full support."

Trollope is expected to continue his coaching role with Chris Coleman and the Wales national team for this summer's European Championships.
