Gerrard cousins to relive childhood

Anthony Gerrard has revealed that he will be reliving his childhood when Cardiff City face Liverpool in the Carling Cup final at Wembley on Sunday.

The Bluebirds defender said that he used to pretend to be playing on the Wembley stage with his cousin Steven Gerrrard at their grandmother's house in Liverpool when they were children.

"Hristo Stoichkov was one of the stars at the 1994 World Cup," Gerrard said.

"He was banging in those amazing free kicks for Bulgaria, just like he was doing regularly for Barcelona.

"Steven and I would be down at our nan's garden and pretending we were him. You remember those little things about being a kid and cherish the innocence of playing."

Gerrard signed for Cardiff City from League One club Walsall in 2009.
