League Two roundup: Oxford United end winless run

Sports Mole rounds up Saturday's action from League Two, including important wins for Oxford United, Rochdale and Southend United.

Oxford United won for the first time in six games on Saturday as they beat 10-man Wycombe Wanderers 1-0 in the M40 derby.

The U's needed an 87th-minute goal from Nicky Wroe to beat their local rivals, who had Steven Craig sent off midway through the first half for a rash tackle on Johnny Mullins.

Chris Wilder's men remain seventh in the League Two table, six points behind leaders Scunthorpe United, who were held to a 0-0 draw at home by AFC Wimbledon.

That result at Glanford Park saw the Iron fail to score for the first time in 11 matches.

Rochdale climbed to second - just two points below Scunthorpe - by thrashing Plymouth Argyle 3-0. The Pilgrims, who lost Andres Gurrieri to a 53rd-minute red card, are now without a victory in their last four outings.

There was also a red card at Highbury, where Jordan Richards was dismissed after just three minutes of Hartlepool United's 2-0 loss to Fleetwood Town.

Two promotion pushers met at Roots Hall as Southend United cruised to a 3-0 win over Chesterfield, moving the Shrimpers up to fourth.

Elsewhere, Accrington Stanley won 2-1 at Cheltenham Town thanks to first-half strikes from George Bowerman and Luke Joyce.

Ryan Taylor scored his first goal for Portsmouth, who came from behind to draw 1-1 with Mansfield Town at Fratton Park.

There were no goals in the games involving York City, Bristol Rovers, Bury and Burton Albion, who are now behind Rochdale on goal difference.

Morecambe's game at Exeter City, Northampton Town's match at Torquay United and the clash between Newport County and Dagenham & Redbridge were all postponed due to waterlogged pitches.
