Flitcroft: 'Walk-in goal was morally right'

Bury boss David Flitcroft has said that Doncaster Rovers manager Paul Dickov protected the "morality" of football by allowing Leon Clarke to equalise in the last minute of their League One match.

Harry Forrester opened the scoring in bizarre fashion in stoppage time, when he lobbed goalkeeper Christian Walton while attempting to give Bury possession after an injury.

The teams then agreed that Leon Clarke would be allowed to score immediately and the match finished as a draw.

"Paul put football in a good place with his sportsmanship because if you lose morality the game has no substance for me," Flitcroft told reporters.

"I've got the ultimate respect for Paul Dickov. He tried to get the referee to award a foul throw initially but then he's allowed us to score from the restart."

Bury finished third in League Two last season to earn a place in the third tier.
