Michael Kightly set for permanent Burnley switch after promotion

Kightly set for permanent Clarets switch

Burnley will reportedly complete the permanent signing of Michael Kightly from Stoke City this summer after their promotion to the Premier League triggered a clause in his loan deal.

According to the Lancashire Telegraph, the Clarets can now buy out the last year of Kightly's contract with Stoke so he can play for them in the top flight next season.

Since moving to Turf Moor in September, 28-year-old Kightly has made 35 Championship appearances for the Clarets and scored five goals under Sean Dyche, who he first worked with at Watford.

Kightly joined Stoke from Wolverhampton Wanderers for around £3m two years ago.
