Stanislas, Paterson give Burnley three points

Goals from Junior Stanislas and Martin Paterson give Burnley a 2-0 win against Ipswich.

Goals from Junior Stanislas and Martin Paterson gave Burnley a 2-0 win over Ipswich Town on the final day of the Championship season.

Ipswich Town had the game's first chance in the opening minutes as Patrick Kisnorbo met Andy Wordsworth's corner, but the Australian centre-half couldn't keep his header down.

A host of Ipswich players, including Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Michael Chopra, were sitting among the travelling Town fans.

At the start of the second half, Tyrone Mings - who was making his debut for the Tractor Boys - found Daryl Murphy, but the Irish striker could only head directly at Lee Grant.

It was the home side who took the lead on the hour mark, as Junior Stanislas's right-footed strike flew beyond the reach of Scott Loach.

Stanislas almost got his second just minutes later, but his shot fizzed over the top of the bar.

Martin Paterson sealed the win for Burnley with five minutes remaining with a header from close range.
