Steve Cotterill demands 'more energy' from his players

Steve Cotterill calls on his players to 'show more energy' in their battle to survive the League One drop.

Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill has called on his players to 'show more energy' in their fight for survival.

The Robins are currently two points from safety at the bottom of League One, following up victory over high-flyers Leyton Orient with a home draw against Tranmere and a heavy 3-0 defeat at the hands of Sheffield United last time out.

"Ashton Gate is a big pitch and we need to make sure we utilise the extra space," Cotterill is quoted as saying by the Bristol Post. "We need to get about the park a bit better, because that is something we didn't do last week.

"Some of the players who are usually energetic were not energetic and there were too many like that on the day. We know that we have some players who are less energetic than others and, sometimes, they bring other things to the party. That is all part of building a team.

"But you have to have energy in any team and I need to pick a side that gives us that. Wade Elliott was the only player who did the right thing from start to finish and got around the pitch last week and we need more like him, that's for sure."

City are back in action on Saturday when they host Gillingham at Ashton Gate.
