Coventry vs. Brighton: Head-to-head record and past meetings

Head-to-head record

Previous meetings: 71

Draws: 23

Brighton & Hove Albion wins: 29

Coventry City and Brighton & Hove Albion have met on 71 previous occasions and the Seagulls hold head-to-head bragging rights with 29 wins to the Sky Blues' 19.

Three of those triumphs for the South Coast club have come in their last four showdowns, as Brighton thumped Coventry 5-0 in their first Premier League meeting in September 2026 thanks to goals from Charalampos Kostoulas, Malick Yalcouye, Pascal Gross, Lewis Dunk and Yasin Ayari.

Brighton also eased past Coventry 3-1 in their previous meeting six years earlier in the FA Cup fifth round courtesy of Jurgen Locadia, Connor Goldson and Leonardo Ulloa's efforts.

When they met in 2011-12 Championship season, the Seagulls beat Coventry 2-1 in their home clash before losing 2-0 at the Ricoh Arena just a few weeks later.

However, those three aforementioned victories for Brighton are the Seagulls' only two successes from their last 11 games against Coventry, a run stretching back to the days of the old First Division in 2002.

Coventry strung together a seven-game unbeaten run against Brighton between 2002 and 2006, a sequence that also included a 1-0 FA Cup third-round win in 2006 owing to a Gary McSheffrey strike.

Before the 2026 meeting, the Sky Blues had not suffered a defeat on home soil to Brighton for a whopping 44 years, last losing on their own turf to the Seagulls in a 1981-82 First Division clash, which the South Coast side won 1-0.

Coventry also boasted the biggest margin of victory in this head-to-head too, thrashing Brighton 5-0 in the Division Three (South) competition in September 1935, but the Seagulls' recent triumph has equalled that record.
