Sam Saunders agrees new Brentford deal

Brentford's Sam Saunders has agreed a new contract with the club that will keep him at Griffin Park for a further 18 months.

The 31-year-old's existing deal was due to expire in the summer, but Bees manager Mark Warburton has wasted no time in securing the attacking midfielder's future.

"I am delighted. Everyone knows about the problems I have had in the last year," Saunders told the club's official website.

"To get something signed early is nice for both parties. Everyone knows how I feel about this club and it is great to know I will be here for another 18 months.

"It was nice to be offered a contract; I had only been back in the squad for three or four weeks. It is nice to feel loved."

Saunders has scored 23 goals in 133 appearances for Brentford, but has featured only sporadically this season after struggling with a persistent knee injury.
