Half-Time Report: Marcello Trotta fires Brentford into lead

Marcello Trotta's 30th-minute strike proves enough for Brentford to record a slender 1-0 half-time lead over Port Vale.

Marcello Trotta has fired Brentford into a narrow 1-0 lead over Port Vale at Griffin Park this afternoon.

The Bees, who currently lead the way in the League One table, remain on course to maintain their position at the summit of England's third tier courtesy of Trotta's strike on 30 minutes.

The 21-year-old Italian unleashed a 25-yard effort that sailed past Chris Neal and into the Vale goal on the half-hour mark.

It proved enough for the hosts to register the lead at the interval, with Mark Warburton's men halfway toward preserving their status as league leaders.
