Thiago Silva: 'Let's win World Cup for Neymar'

Captain Thiago Silva calls on Brazil to win the World Cup for teammate Neymar, who has been ruled out of the tournament after breaking a vertebra in his spine.

Brazil captain Thiago Silva believes that the tournament-ending injury to teammate Neymar could spark a "revolution" within the host nation's squad.

Neymar has been ruled out of the World Cup after breaking a vertebra in his spine in the 2-1 win over Colombia on Friday night, but ahead of their last-four clash with Germany, Silva has admitted that it could add extra motivation for his side as they try to win the Jules Rimet trophy for the sixth time.

The 29-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "Neymar is very important for our group, we depend a lot on him.

"But, potentially this situation can mark a revolution for us, like 'let's win the Cup for Neymar'."

Silva will be absent from Tuesday's semi-final after picking up his second yellow card of the tournament.
