Live Commentary: Brazil 0-0 Venezuela - as it happened

Brazil were held to a goalless draw by Venezuela in their second Group A match at the Copa America on Tuesday night.

The Selecao opened the tournament with a 3-0 victory over Bolivia on Friday night and would have been looking for another three points to ease their way into the last eight.

Brazil had the ball in the back of the Venezuelan net on three separate occasions during the 90 minutes, but all three were chalked off, including second-half efforts from Gabriel Jesus and Philippe Coutinho.

Venezuela, meanwhile, have striker Joseph Martinez in reserve, in addition to Jefferson Savarino, who has been linked with both West Ham United and Newcastle United in the English press.

Venezuela, meanwhile, hit the target with one of their three attempts. Both teams have picked up first-half yellow cards, meanwhile, with Murillo booked in the 37th minute and Casemiro joining him four minutes later.

32 minPass, pass, pass from Brazil as they attempt to work some space. Venezuela are still in their 4-1-4-1 formation, though, and it is proving very difficult to break through as Moreno is sitting in front of a compact defensive unit. Brazil have to move the ball a little bit quicker here.

25 minRondon looks for Murillo as Venezuela threaten on the break, but Luis is back to make the challenge. The underdogs are looking dangerous, though, and Marquinhos has to clear a low cross from Rincon in the next phase, with Rondon waiting to convert from close range.

23 minJust a reminder that a win for Brazil would see them book their spot in the quarter-finals with a match to spare. This is quite similar to the Bolivia match in the first period, although Brazil are looking more dangerous in this game, having already created some really good chances.

10 minAs expected, it is a 4-1-4-1 formation for Venezuela, with their team showing three changes from the one which started against Peru. Skipper Rincon has seen lots of the ball in the opening 10 minutes and Rondon has been well supported by his teammates in the final third.

8 minMachis makes ground down the Brazil right before delivering low towards Rondon, but Marquinhos is on hand to make the clearance. The Selecao then look to break once again, only for Casemiro to be fouled in the middle of the park. Still goalless with eight minutes on the clock.

6 minJust a reminder that Rondon leads the line for Venezuela. The centre-forward has just headed towards the Brazil goal, but Alisson gathers comfortably. The Selecao then look to build from the back once again with Casemiro taking possession before finding Neres in a wide area.

4 minIt has been a bright start from the Brazilians, who are in their yellow strip tonight. Luis has just attempted to find Thiago Silva with a deep cross, but the captain cannot make contact.

2 min... Brazil are no longer top of Group A with Peru beating Bolivia earlier this evening to move onto four points in the section. A win for Tite's side here, though, would see them advance.

Salomon Rondon will again lead the line, but there is no spot in the XI for Jefferson Savarino, which might disappoint Newcastle United and West Ham United, with the pair reportedly having scouts at this game to have a look at the Real Salt Lake attacker.

There had been suggestions that Gabriel Jesus could replace Roberto Firmino at centre-forward but that is not the case, with the Liverpool forward again selected.
