Sam Matthews pens new Bournemouth deal

Highly-rated midfielder Sam Matthews has signed a new two-year contract with Championship outfit Bournemouth.

The 16-year-old, who had been linked with a number of Premier League clubs, is expected to be given the chance to train with the first team next season.

"Eddie and Jason [Tindall] have been great with me and I have learned so much from them," he told the club's official website.

"They are really supportive of me but they are mindful of how young I am and what stage I am at physically. I can't thank them enough."

Bournemouth finished second in League One last season.
