Bournemouth forward Dominic Solanke a doubt for Arsenal clash

Bournemouth forward Dominic Solanke a doubt for Arsenal clash

Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke is a doubt for Saturday's Premier League meeting with Arsenal.

Solanke came off the bench to score the opener in Wednesday's win over Stoke City in the third round of the EFL Cup.

Joe Rothwell quickly doubled Bournemouth's advantage to secure a 2-0 home win, but the result was somewhat overshadowed when Solanke was forced off late on.

The 26-year-old limped off with an ankle injury in the 85th minute and was subsequently replaced by Wales international Kieffer Moore.

After the cup victory, Iraola told reporters: "Dom has played well. We needed a change of energy and the whole of the team had a different attitude in the second half.

"Unfortunately, he couldn't finish the game, that was probably the worst part of the evening. We will see tomorrow if the ankle is swollen or not but we have a very tight schedule so it will be tough for him to play at the weekend."

Speaking in Friday's pre-match press conference, the Bournemouth boss provided a further update on Solanke's fitness.

"We still don't know with some players." Iraola told the assembled media. "We are training this afternoon so, especially with Dom, he didn't train yesterday. We will try for sure to have him available, but we don't know.

Iraola also commented on Tyler Adams's fitness status after the USA international made his debut in the midweek cup win.

"Tyler is one of the cases we are waiting on too," Iraola added. "We need to see how he is after playing his first minutes since being out for a while. The medical team are monitoring him, so we will take the decisions depending on how he is."

While the Cherries boss will have to make a decision on Solanke and Adams's availability, he will definitely be without the services of Lloyd Kelly, Chris Mepham, Ryan Fredericks, Alex Scott and Emiliano Marcondes.

Having drawn three and lost three of his opening six league games, Iraola will look to claim his first Premier League victory when Arsenal visit the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.
