Per Mertesacker would love to see Jurgen Klopp in Premier League

Per Mertesacker tips Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp to have a big impact in England if he joins a Premier League club this summer.

Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker has backed his compatriot and Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp to thrive in the Premier League if he ever makes the move.

Dortmund revealed this week that Klopp would be leaving this summer, and the 47-year-old has since been linked with succeeding under-fire Manuel Pellegrini at Manchester City.

"I've got some nice experiences in the Premier League and of course it would be nice if a German coach would take the challenge of working in the Premier League," Mertesacker told Sky Sports News.

"It's not so good for Dortmund that he is leaving, but I still wish him all the best and hopefully one day he will manage abroad. I think his passion would fit and to see him in England would be very interesting.

"Everyone has their philosophy and I think Jurgen Klopp has proved that he's top-level and can teach a lot."

Klopp has won three major trophies during his seven-year stay at Signal Iduna Park, including back-to-back Bundesligas in 2011 and 2012.
