Preview: Slavia Prague vs. Borussia Dortmund - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole provides team news, predicted lineups and a full preview of Wednesday's Champions League meeting between Slavia Prague and Borussia Dortmund.

Borussia Dortmund make the trip to Czech Republic having got their Champions League campaign underway with a goalless draw against Barcelona.

However, they face a team in Slavia Prague who came within a whisker of earning three points at Inter Milan, eventually having to make do with a share of the spoils.

Having watched his team begin the campaign with four successive wins in all competitions, Borussia Dortmund boss Lucien Favre will be relatively disappointed with where his side find themselves at this stage of the campaign.

After missing a penalty during the stalemate with Barcelona, Dortmund have recorded back-to-back 2-2 draws in the Bundesliga, leaving the club down in eighth position in the standings.

Given the club's transfer business in recent windows, the supporters expect more from this group of players, who have failed to prevail from winning positions in their last two games.

With a double-header against in-form Inter to come, it is imperative that they pick up points in their fixtures against Slavia, although the Czech side have already proven that they will be no pushovers in this group.

Some may have felt that their run to the quarter-finals of last season's Europa League was a one off, but Jindrich Trpisovsky is continuing to work wonders with this squad.

While a video of the club's officials ruing their luck of the draw went viral at the end of last month, Trpisovsky has got this group of players believing that they can qualify for the knockout stages.

Despite naturally being disappointed with conceding so late on at San Siro, the point in Italy was a bonus, and triumphing over Dortmund at the Sinobo Stadium would put Slavia ahead of schedule.

None of their players are standing out when it comes to goals, but conceding just once in five matches since the international break will undoubtedly leave Slavia thinking that they can keep out Dortmund's talented attack.

Team News

While Jadon Sancho has contributed just one goal and no assists from his last three outings, the England international should keep his place on the right flank.

However, Julian Brandt is battling with Thorgan Hazard to get the nod on the opposite side of the pitch, while Julian Weigl is pushing for a start in midfield.

Lukasz Piszczek could come back into the team at right-back after recovering from injury.

Barring any late injury issues, Trpisovsky may name the same Slavia XI from the meeting with Inter.

Slavia Prague possible starting lineup: Kolar; Coufal, Kudela, Hovorka, Boril; Traore, Husbauer, Soucek; Stanciu; Masopust, Olayinka

Borussia Dortmund possible starting lineup: Burki; Piszczek, Akanji, Hummels, Hakimi; Delaney, Witsel; Sancho, Reus, Brandt; Alcacer

We say: Slavia Prague 1-3 Borussia Dortmund

While this promises to be an entertaining encounter, we feel that Dortmund's greater experience and quality in the final third will ultimately prove too much for their hosts, who are under pressure to pick up at least another point ahead of their double-header with Barca.
