Reims edge out Bordeaux

Nicolas de Preville's second-half goal was enough to earn Reims three points in Ligue 1 this evening, as they edged to a 1-0 victory over Bordeaux at the Stade Auguste-Delaune II.

Guillaume Hoarau almost gave Bordeaux the lead in the opening minutes when he got his head onto a ball from Mariano, but his effort was kept out of the top corner.

Gregory Sertic turned in an inch-perfect ball for Julien Faubert, although the midfielder somehow lashed wide of the target.

Aissa Mandi did well to make the most of Prince Oniangue's pass as Reims went in search of a goal, but his long-range effort was tipped away from the top corner of the net.

De Preville scored the match-winning goal in the 64th minute of the game, as he powered home a right-footed shot from outside the box into the top left corner.

Bordeaux thought that they had pulled level in the final minutes when Sertic sent a powerful shot towards the bottom corner, but Johnny Placide got down well to ensure that his side took all three points.
