Gillot revels in Bordeaux "satisfaction"

Francis Gillot has expressed his satisfaction with his Bordeaux side after they recovered from a "mediocre" first half to beat Valenciennes on Sunday.

Tongo Hamed Doumbia had given the visitors the lead, but a Jussie penalty and a goal from Nicolas Maurice-Belay helped Bordeaux to a 2-1 win at the Stade Chaban-Delmas.

"We put ourselves in trouble with the goal we conceded in the second half, but we came back well, did what we had to do, put in the effort necessary to win," Gillot told reporters. "There's great satisfaction because up against us, there was a team that was determined to make life difficult for us.

"Technically, we were mediocre in the first half. In the second half, we started badly, we conceded that goal and it's that which sparked our revolt. The second revolt was the penalty stopped by Cedric. That was the turning point of the game.

"Things can change quickly in the table. We're winning matches painfully, we're fortunate, and that can change quickly. We're enjoying it, but we know that it's precarious."

Bordeaux moved up to fourth in the Ligue 1 table following that win.
