Bolton Wanderers slip to pre-season defeat

Bolton Wanderers lose 3-2 against Swedish side Mjallby in their pre-season friendly.

A flurry of first-half goals saw Bolton Wanderers lose their pre-season clash with Mjallby AIF 3-2 on Wednesday evening.

The Championship side raced into a two-goal lead when Robert Hall added to Jermaine Beckford's opener within the first seven minutes.

Hall teed up his teammate on five minutes and former Everton striker Beckford dispatched with aplomb, before the 20-year-old made it 2-0 moments later with an emphatic finish into the top corner from the edge of the box.

However, the home side were back in it just 10 minutes later when Mattias Haakansson and Kristian Haynes struck on 12 and 16 minutes respectively.

With seven minutes of the first half remaining, Bounso gave the Swedish side the lead, before Viktor Nilsson was denied shortly after the restart by Andy Lonergan.

Mjallby almost extended their lead in bizarre circumstances on 75 minutes when an overhit pass crashed against the post with Lonergan beaten in the Bolton goal.
