Both sides played out a cagey opening as they struggled to impose themselves on the game.

Charlton appealed for a penalty on 24 minutes after Keith Andrews seemed to bundle Chris Solly to the ground, though nothing was given.

Danny Haynes got in on goal three minutes later, however a last-ditch challenge from Tyrone Mears denied the chance.
