Steve Kean delighted with Chris Samba stay

Kean delighted with Samba stay

Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean has said that he is delighted that captain Chris Samba is still with the club.

The defender had recently handed in a transfer request after five years at Ewood Park.

However, no deal was able to be made with another side before yesterday's transfer deadline.

"I'll speak with Chris tomorrow," Kean told Sky Sports News after his side's 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United. "I think it's been tough for him because obviously he handed in a transfer request and wanted to leave the club.

"We're delighted he hasn't left, I'll speak with him tomorrow and I'm sure he'll be back on it again."

Rovers next host Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday.
