Brett Emerton agrees Sydney FC switch

Brett Emerton has agreed terms on a move from Blackburn Rovers to Australian A-League side Sydney FC.

The 32-year-old midfielder's current contract was to expire next summer, but it has been cancelled to allow the move to go through.

"I'm a Sydney boy and I'm looking forward to representing the people of Sydney every week," said Emerton.

Rovers manager Steve Kean stressed that the move was family, and not football, related.

Emerton will make a farewell appearance for the Lancashire side when they host Everton on Saturday.
