Christopher Samba believes that the Blackburn Rovers players are to blame for the club's poor season, not manager Steve Kean.
The Lancashire side are in the drop zone of the Premier League table, taking just two wins from 16 games.
"We are not here to discuss the manager," Sky Sports News quotes Samba as saying. "He is doing his job and trying to lift us. But the players are responsible - we are on the pitch.
"It is our job. It is too easy to blame the manager. We were not good enough. As a team we have not proved we are good enough to stay in the league at the moment.
"We are devastated. We are so low. The mood in the dressing room is down. We have let our fans down a little bit by our performance. We need to give them something to cheer. It was not just the defeat, but it was a bad way to lose."
Blackburn continue their festive period with a crucial match against Bolton Wanderers tomorrow evening.
